Lead Engineer

Invenia Search has partnered with an early-stage clinical genomics software company to hire a Lead Engineer.

The company is building software that helps genomics labs turn sequencing data into clinical reports, starting in oncology. Today that interpretation work takes hours of expert time per case; the company's software does the evidence work, shows its sources and leaves the final judgement with the expert. Its first labs are live, and it is now building the team to grow with them.

Role Responsibilities:

As an early member of the team, you will build features across the whole stack and help shape the company's technical direction.

• Own and build features end to end across the stack

• Develop machine learning models and LLM-based systems for genomics

• Work with genomics experts to understand what they need and feed it back into product and technical direction

• Help shape technical direction as an early team member

• Use AI throughout development, including implementation, testing, documentation and review

• Work within the documentation and processes required for regulated medical software (EU AI Act, MDR/IVDR, GDPR and FDA equivalents)

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a strong full-stack engineer who takes ideas through to production and keeps owning them afterwards.

• Strong engineering skills across the stack – the current stack is mainly Python, React and Kubernetes with Helm and ArgoCD

• Experience taking work from idea to production and owning it afterwards

• Able to make decisions and ship when requirements are still unclear

• Works well independently, communicates clearly in writing and knows when to involve others

• Comfortable working without a product manager, QA team or designer, fully remote and mostly async

• Helpful but not required: experience with AI-assisted development, bioinformatics, medical or other regulated industries, or work as a founding engineer or in an early-stage start-up
